In early March, CAG leadership approved a $500 donation (non-federal funds) to the Healthy Pine River group in Alma. Last week we received a thank you letter from the organization and a receipt for our donation, which will help with water testing, septic assistance with rural residences, and other projects.
· Brittany Fremion spoke with a 300-level Spanish class at CMU about the PBB Disaster and cleanup at the Velsicol Superfund Sites on Tuesday, March 31st.
· On Tuesday evening, March 31st, Norm Keon, JoAnne Scalf, and Brittany Fremion participated in a panel discussion about community-based participatory research with an MPH class at CMU, sharing experiences with the CAG, the Michigan PBB Registry, and Scalf’s Multigenerational Health Map.
· On Wednesday, April 15th EPA and the Site Team facilitated a tour of the Velsicol Superfund Sites for CAG officers and the regional directors for US Senators Elissa Slotkin (Jeremy Blatt) and Gary Peters (Quentin Groce).
· Since our last meeting, Doug Brecht shared news articles with the CAG Executive Committee related to US EPA, MEGLE, MDARD, and the Governor’s Office, as well as environmental contamination and human health issues.
