US EPA Invites Your Comments !

The US EPA has announced they will be welcoming public comments on the Velsicol clean-up in St. Louis as part of their Five-Year Review process. Here’s the text of their announcement.

We need your input.  The Velsicol team of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, is conducting a five-year review of the site and updating our Community Involvement Plan.   We would appreciate one hour of your time to talk about the Superfund cleanup and community engagement.

This review is an opportunity for you to share any questions or concerns you have regarding the site and cleanup, and to help shape community involvement going forward. To help us conduct this work, we have retained the services of a facilitator from the Consensus Building Institute [cbi.org], or CBI, a non-profit organization specializing in community engagement.  CBI Managing Director Stacie Smith will be reaching out to you to schedule an interview, preferably in-person between May 31 – June 2.  During those days, we have reserved the community room at the Theodore Austin Cutler Memorial Library between 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Stacie can meet in other local locations in the evenings.  She will also be offering time for focus groups between 5-6 p.m. at the Library. If you cannot make a time that week work, we can arrange a phone or video conversation shortly thereafter.
