4. Correspondence and Communication - Brittany Fremion, Chairperson
· CAG leadership (Gary Smith, Jane Jelenek, and Brittany Fremion) met with City of St. Louis leadership on July 24th to discuss site reuse and redevelopment. The group agreed to resume quarterly meetings.
· Gary Smith and Brittany Fremion collaborated on open letters and short narratives introducing the CAG, history of the Velsicol Sites, and overview of remedial work for City of St. Louis fall newsletters and monthly mailings. Our goal is to raise awareness about our work and encourage community members to get involved in our efforts.
· The CAG Executive Committee met with EPA contractor Stacie Smith to discuss Technical Meeting structure on August 5th. We are reviewing her draft recommendations and hope to resume Technical Meetings by the end of the month. These meetings are open to the public and will focus on discussion of technical aspects of remedial actions at the Velsicol Sites.
· The CAG Executive Committee met on August 16th to discuss administrative, outreach, and action list items, many of which are reflected in this agenda.
· In mid-August, documentary filmmaker Gordon Crum visited St. Louis and interviewed CAG Treasurer and founding member, Gary Smith, for his new limited film series on the Michigan PBB Disaster. He also interviewed Dr. Robert Hood of the Michigan PBB Registry and worked with US EPA to get footage of the Velsicol Sites. · CAG officers have been in communication with the Michigan PBB Registry Leadership Team about their fall community meetings, which are planned for City Hall in St. Louis, Michigan, on Saturday, November 7th from 10-12 and Sunday, November, 8th from 2:00-4:00 in Fremont at the Community Center.
· Since our last meeting, Doug Brecht shared news articles with the CAG Executive Committee related to AI data centers, US EPA and MI EGLE programs, and news coverage of farming challenges, PFAS regulations, and environmental health-related issues in the US.
